St Mary's Primary School recognises the huge importance of providing high standards of teaching and learning.
We aim to enable every child to flourish by providing a curriculum which is broad, relevant and meaningful, and one that is increasingly personalised based on individual needs.
We aim to meet the needs of each and every child, ensuring they leave St Mary's able to read, write and handle numbers confidently. We aim to prepare children for our ever-changing world, by helping them to become effective and resillient thinkers, successful learners and adaptable, hard workers. It is our intention that every child will have extensive opportunities to develop their skills in the arts, music and sport.
By the time our pupils leave St. Mary's, we seek to ensure that every child is confident, polite and able to empathise with others. Equipped with Catholic values, they will have the skills necessary to flourish in the next stage of their education and to become successful and responsible adults.
The school is committed to enriching and extending the curriculum and children have the opportunity to go on visits to places associated with their areas of study. Visitors are invited into school to further children’s knowledge and understanding in specific areas. Children in years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to take part in residential trips.
A comprehensive Curriculum Map, set up as a two year rolling programme, records how each curriculum area is covered in a balanced and progressive way throughout the school. Please click on the links below to find out more about our curriculum offer.
